Highworth Artists' Society

Aims
Our aim is to create an interest in the visual arts, to encourage and support artists at all stages
of their development and to give them the chance to exhibit their work. Our weekly workshops
provide a place to socialise and learn from each other.

About
Highworth Artists’ Society is a well-established society started in 1969 when three local artists ran a small exhibition in the town. We now have a membership from Highworth and the surrounding area with a waiting list being held when required. It is regretted that we cannot accept applications for membership from anyone under the age of 18 years.

Our Workshops: We hold 2 sessions every Tuesday (10am to 12pm and 12pm to 2pm) in the Community Room, Highworth Town Council Offices, SN6 7FB. Members can choose to come for one session or stay for both - cost £3 per session. Workshops are optional as they are held during the working day but if you can come it’s a good way to learn from each other and to meet old and new
friends in a stimulating and lively atmosphere.

There is no Tutor so we bring our own artwork and materials. We are a friendly group, willing to help and pass on tips when asked. Occasionally we hold a themed session (e.g. a still life) for all to paint or draw.
Also arranged are:
a) Two exhibitions each year for members to show their own, original artwork.
b) Demonstrations by professional artists.
c) Trips to events and exhibitions of artistic interest.
d) Newsletters to keep members updated of Society news and events
e) A Christmas buffet lunch.

Applicants are invited to join us for one free workshop session (bringing along their own work and equipment). A joining fee of £20 is required to become a member.

If you would like more information about our Society or would like to become a member please email our secretary using the contact page.
